I hear that herbal tea isn’t always natural and your body can become dependent on it like some drug. Apparently when you stop using it your metabolism becomes much slower and it could lead to death. I know it sounds ridiculous to say the least but I don’t want to become dependent on it and I don’t know what to believe.

Basically i really really need to lose weight. I was thinking of having:

breakfast- muesli with some semi skimmed milk and coffee with semi skimmed milk

evening- herbal tea

no snacks and just water to drink. Maybe I’ll have one small cappacino in a coffee shop when I go out every now and again!
lunch- bowl of fruit and a cup of tea with skimmed milk
(example of fruit bowl: apple, banana and a plum)
dinner- whatever my mum cooks me for dinner, I’ll have to eat it all but it’s usually healthy

Are there any pre-diet preparations i need make before i begin this diet/detox?
How exactly am i to make the lemonade/pepper drink?
How long do you think i should continue the detox? (Given the health risks involved)
Ive heard of some sort of Laxative herbal tea that im supposed to drink (or salt mixed with water) but what exactly is this herbal drink and the name for it when purchasing in the shops?
And by cayenne pepper does it mean the stuff you get in the little herb pots or freshly ground stuff that you have made?

BTW please dont preach the health effects and dangers of this detox/diet as im perfectly aware and am willing to accept the possible effects.

Thanks very much for any help :)

I spent all evening and using the internet to come up with a good balanced diet plan, but please let me know if and where i have gone wrong. I am needing to lose over a hundred pounds by the way. I am over 30 as well. I am female too.

Breakfast: health smoothie using 1 level scoop nutritional supplement powder, 12 oz soymilk, 1 tbsp flaxseed, and 1/2 cup frozen blueberries..blended

Lunch: 2 cups leafy greens including spinach, 1/4 cup nonfat greek yogurt and 1/2 cup frozen raspberries , with 1 tbsp flaxseed sprinkled ontop (make it like a salad using the greek yogurt in place of dressing)

Snack 1: 1 banana with 1 tbsp peanut butter
Snack 2: 1 activia with fiber yogurt

Dinner: 1 large chicken breast (9 oz), 1 cup frozen corn, 1 can chicken gravy (i use this over the chicken) and 1 tbsp olive oil (I use over the corn to make it more palatable)

Nighttime, herbal tea with lemon

Here are the stats:
Total calories: 1500
Total Fat: 50 grams
Saturated fat… 8 grams
Sodium: 2,400
Fiber: 30 grams
TOtal sugar: 85 grams (55 come from natural sugars in the soymilk, raspberries, blueberries, banana, and corn…. 30 grams come from the nutritional powder, activia, & peanut butter)
Total Protein: 80 grams
Vitamin A: 165%
Vitamin C: 185%
Calcium: 100%
Iron: 100%
Potassium: 3,500 mg
I am sure there are more vitamins and minerals., i just kept track of those listed above as they were most commonly labeled on food labels.
I forgot to add: I know my dinner sounds gross but by the end of the day i know im going to want a hearty supper, and i have done this before and it helps… see i take the chicken breast and throw it in a pan, drizzle the olive oil on it (or sometimes underneath it) grab a handful of frozen corn and throw on top, pour the chicken gravy over that (its 175 calories for the 10 oz can) and bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour, then (i know this sounds gross) i put it all in a food processor and blend it, it comes out like a corn dip for pita chips… its really good! and satisfying.

Okay as a 16 year old girl I regret to say my BMI is overweight (28.3 *cringe*). I have PCOS which doesn’t help. Well anyway regardless of causes my school formal (you might call it a prom if you want) is next year. Next year but I want to start losing weight now so I can look great and I figured if I start now if I have set-backs it doesn’t matter I still have time and I have time to not only lose the weight but to establish a healthy diet and lifestyle.

I’ve done some research and found this diet called the ‘The Fat Smash Diet’ I was hoping you guys could tell me whether this is healthy or not. Just to start off with.

Okay it goes in four stages.

Stage One: The detox stage:

It lasts for 9 days and you eat mostly fruits and vegetables. You eliminate alcohol and caffeine, the idea is to clean all the nasty stuff from your system. You can eat all the vegies you want except avocado and white potatoes. You can also have the following: beans/legumes, 1 cup of oatmeal, 2 cups of brown rice, two cups of low fat or 1% milk, 2 6 ounce yogurts, 4 egg whites. You can only drink water and 2 cups of herbal tea. You use limited oils when cooking.

Phase two: The foundation phase. This lasts for three weeks. In this phase you eat the same foods as in phase one but you slowly reinstate lean meats. You add mostly chicken and fish and things with high protein just not pork. 1 whole egg, unsweetened cereal, 1 ounce of cheese, 1 10 ounce cup of coffee and 2 diet pops a day come back if you want that.

Phase three: The construction phase: This phase lasts for 4 weeks. In this phase you eat the same foods as phases 1 and 2 but you reintroduce whole wheat pasta and bread. Increase protein by adding peanut butter and even mayo to food, 2 whole eggs, 3 cups of that milk now, 2 cups of freshly squeezed juice, 4 slices of wholemeal bread, 1 cup of pasta and one desert serving per day.

Phase 4: The template phase. This phase is about lifestyle so it’s a lifestyle change. You eat the same foods as the last three stages but bring back white starches like potatoes and flour. You bring back what you want but you have to learn how much your body can take.

How much weight do you think I could use going on that diet then maintaining phase 4 as a general lifestyle? Here’s the link btw:

My main goal is to stop drinking caffeine. I’m allowing myself a little hot chocolate, but my main goals are to stop drinking coffee and diet pop. So far it’s been going pretty good. I’m heavy on the herbal tea though. :)

okay i don’t know what it is but its getting worse. it started about a month or two ago,
it started off with eczema, but now ive got spots on my face and the eczema is getting worse

okay i do realize it COULD be because of my stress – ive been under immense pressure due to exams (gcses) , but ive calmed down as they are over, it was really bad because ive never been under that much pressure in my live. but why am i still getting itching and spots and stuff?

but i was wondering -
could it be my diet? i have kind of started eating new things, but they re all healthy changes.

heres what i have on an average day:
breakfast – bio pot yogurt with chopped banana
lunch – sandwich (Philadelphia and lettuce)
dinner – whatever my mum makes (never been a problem)
i do have about 2 cups of herbal tea.

okay, now i want to know whether its my eating or my stress?
please help me!
xxx

Ok, not fat but can it make you saggy? I am slim but I was in better shape a few months ago before I started drinking LOADS of herbal tea? I drink one green tea when I wake up (freshly brewed, no sugar) then throughout the day I drink camomile or dandelion or peppermint. Is it possible that the tea is to blame for me losing some of my muscle definition? My diet is relatively healthy and I go running nearly everyday for about 20-30 mins. I drink a lot of water but I’ve substituted some of my usual mineral water for the tea, so proportionally drinking less plain water lately.
what is ”pes”????

fyi I weigh 132 and am 5′7

I’m 16, 5′ 9", 142lbs, and I eat about a 12-1400calorie diet every day. I have access to a gym, and I usually do at least 40 reps on each of the abdominal machines. I haven’t ran in about a month, but when I used to run every night, I wasn’t getting anywhere. I’ve been eating a lot of tuna fish and vegetables, and I only drink water and herbal tea. My goal is to have a 6 pack before next June, but I’m stuck. Advice?
I have a little bit of a belly, but it seems the more abdominal workouts I do, the more it pushes it outwards. I’m starting to get the ridges of a two pack at the bottom of my ribs, but I can’t get the fatty layer away.

Hi! I’m 15 year old High School Student, and I was just wondering if it’s okay if I start the Lemonade Diet thingy. Just so you know, I AM overweight, like LEGIT, I weight 140 pounds and I’m 5′1… so please don’t say rude things about me not needing to lose weight.. and plus I’m doing this to clean out my system mostly… so heres basically what the Lemonade Diet is,

1. Drink about 100 ounces of the lemonade per day.
2. Drink the salt water flush in the morning as soon as you wake up and drink the herbal laxative tea at night before bed.
3. You cannot eat anything while on the Lemonade Diet. You drink only the lemonade, the saltwater flush, and the herbal tea.
4. The Lemonade Diet is a cleansing and elimination diet, which claims to help rid the body of toxins along with helping you to lose weight fast.

This is the website that has all the Lemonade Diet information.
http://www.momswhothink.com/lose-weight-fast/lemonade-diet.html

Also, I was wondering if the herbal laxative tea at night before bed is bad? Will it be bad for me…? Or like will it make me diarrhea or something?? haaha, anyways thanks. !!

I’ve used the Atkin’s diet several times throughout the years. I used ketone strips to test my ketone output throughout the diet. On Atkins I’d hold steady at about 40 ketones, and I’d lose about 2 lbs per day. (I’m over 100 lbs overweight)
Now I’m on the HCG diet and my ketones are between 80-160! AMAZING!!! Yet I’m only losing MAYBE a pound a day, sometimes gaining 1-2 lbs. And while on the VLCD (very low calorie diet) I get really tired when I eat. I feel better just drinking liquids all day (water or herbal tea with Stevia; about 64 oz liquids a day) and staying hungry. I finally ate some Tilapia and Celery last night around 8 PM and was soooo sleepy I crashed. I stayed the same weight after yesterday’s 64 oz liquid intake and total 120 calorie diet. (I had a couple strawberries in the morning).
I feel worse (and hungrier) when I eat a full 500 calories!

1. Does the ketone level matter?
2. Why is food making me so tired?!
3. Should I do a higher calorie/fat diet for a day or two again??

Ok, so i know about the stages you go through on a low carbohydrate diet and using fat stores for energy.. ketosis.. etc..
but i would like to know how much weight i can loose on this sort of plan?

i am female, 5′6
120 pounds

i have tried this for the past week and so far i have lost about 2 pounds, buti dont know whether this is just water weight.
i have eaten roughly about 1200 calories per day and i do a fair amount of walking as i never go by car or public transport.
a typical days food has been:
Breakfast: Omelet with grated cheese and chicken breast pieces
Lunch: Chicken or fish (sardines, prawns etc) with lettuce and 1 babybel cheese
Dinner: Lean meat or fish (salmon, prawns, cod, beef, chicken) with mixed vegetables (carrots, broccoli, beans, cauliflower) with one tablespoon of rice, pasta or a boiled potato.
drinks: water, squash, herbal tea
snacks: Apple, grapes, cheese, ham, a biscuit (occasional piece of chocolate)

is this diet low-carb enough? if i followed this plan for a month how much weight ould i be expected to lose? i also go for a run a few times a week.

thankyou!! :)

7 AM: chai tea latte (vanilla soymilk, tazo chai tea bag, sometimes about 1.5 tbsp honey)

snack (during class time): 1 bannana, 3 small apples (the home grown kind), or 2 oranges

3 PM: lunch: usually ramen, rice with salty korean veggies, sometimes rice and fish, or fast food (usually chinese take out and water bottle or burritos). i tend to overeat at this time because afterschool im starving!!

7 PM: rice and soup (korean food) i try to eat only a little bit, just enough so i wont feel terribly hungry, but often the food is so tasty that i get carried away and eat seconds :(

7 to 11 PM: hot herbal tea (chamomile, rose, lavendar, anything to stay warm and that helps to sleep or relax the digestive system.

OK, im 5′2" and weight 125 lbs. that is overweight. my doctor said i should be under a 100 lbs but as long as its between 95-105 its acceptable and healthy. so it seems there is a lot wrong with my diet (i dont exersize, that could be another thing) but what? please help :(

So the Master Cleanse Diet is a detox diet you are suppose to go on for 10 days. It pretty much consists of only drinking this lemonade drink (with cayenne pepper and maple syrup), lots of water, and herbal tea if you must. It sounds like starving…I dont want to do that…but it seems to have a lot of good reviews. People even say they feel better, empowered, afterward. As opposed to tired and starved.

I was thinking of alternating this diet a bit and incorporating some raw veggies and some fruit once or twice a day so I am not totally dying.

Any opinions?
