I had high LFTs in a previous blood test and also pains in my lower right abdominal area. Ive gone on a diet and i just bought some detox tea that supposely helps the kidney and liver and cleanses the blood at Henrys Marketplace. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify these ingrediants and know if they do work:
All Organic: Cinnamon Bark,Licorice Root,Ginger Root,Burdock Root,Dandelion Root, Cardamon Seed, Juniper Berry,Black Pepper,Clove Bud,Long Pepper Berry,Chinese Amur Cork Tree Bark,Japanese Honeysuckle Flower,Forsythia Fruit,Gardenia Flower,Skullcap Root, Black Cohosh Root,Chinese Goldenthread Root,Rhubarb Root,Wax Ground,Asian Psyllium Seed. I also bought fresh Danelion Root, i was wonder in if anyone know how i should go about consuming that? Raw? Brew it and drink the water and eat the Root? And does anyone know how many times i should drink that day per day? and also the Dandelion root? I really need all these questions answer and appreciate anyone who can help. =D

I spent all evening and using the internet to come up with a good balanced diet plan, but please let me know if and where i have gone wrong. I am needing to lose over a hundred pounds by the way. I am over 30 as well. I am female too.

Breakfast: health smoothie using 1 level scoop nutritional supplement powder, 12 oz soymilk, 1 tbsp flaxseed, and 1/2 cup frozen blueberries..blended

Lunch: 2 cups leafy greens including spinach, 1/4 cup nonfat greek yogurt and 1/2 cup frozen raspberries , with 1 tbsp flaxseed sprinkled ontop (make it like a salad using the greek yogurt in place of dressing)

Snack 1: 1 banana with 1 tbsp peanut butter
Snack 2: 1 activia with fiber yogurt

Dinner: 1 large chicken breast (9 oz), 1 cup frozen corn, 1 can chicken gravy (i use this over the chicken) and 1 tbsp olive oil (I use over the corn to make it more palatable)

Nighttime, herbal tea with lemon

Here are the stats:
Total calories: 1500
Total Fat: 50 grams
Saturated fat… 8 grams
Sodium: 2,400
Fiber: 30 grams
TOtal sugar: 85 grams (55 come from natural sugars in the soymilk, raspberries, blueberries, banana, and corn…. 30 grams come from the nutritional powder, activia, & peanut butter)
Total Protein: 80 grams
Vitamin A: 165%
Vitamin C: 185%
Calcium: 100%
Iron: 100%
Potassium: 3,500 mg
I am sure there are more vitamins and minerals., i just kept track of those listed above as they were most commonly labeled on food labels.
I forgot to add: I know my dinner sounds gross but by the end of the day i know im going to want a hearty supper, and i have done this before and it helps… see i take the chicken breast and throw it in a pan, drizzle the olive oil on it (or sometimes underneath it) grab a handful of frozen corn and throw on top, pour the chicken gravy over that (its 175 calories for the 10 oz can) and bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour, then (i know this sounds gross) i put it all in a food processor and blend it, it comes out like a corn dip for pita chips… its really good! and satisfying.

Okay as a 16 year old girl I regret to say my BMI is overweight (28.3 *cringe*). I have PCOS which doesn’t help. Well anyway regardless of causes my school formal (you might call it a prom if you want) is next year. Next year but I want to start losing weight now so I can look great and I figured if I start now if I have set-backs it doesn’t matter I still have time and I have time to not only lose the weight but to establish a healthy diet and lifestyle.

I’ve done some research and found this diet called the ‘The Fat Smash Diet’ I was hoping you guys could tell me whether this is healthy or not. Just to start off with.

Okay it goes in four stages.

Stage One: The detox stage:

It lasts for 9 days and you eat mostly fruits and vegetables. You eliminate alcohol and caffeine, the idea is to clean all the nasty stuff from your system. You can eat all the vegies you want except avocado and white potatoes. You can also have the following: beans/legumes, 1 cup of oatmeal, 2 cups of brown rice, two cups of low fat or 1% milk, 2 6 ounce yogurts, 4 egg whites. You can only drink water and 2 cups of herbal tea. You use limited oils when cooking.

Phase two: The foundation phase. This lasts for three weeks. In this phase you eat the same foods as in phase one but you slowly reinstate lean meats. You add mostly chicken and fish and things with high protein just not pork. 1 whole egg, unsweetened cereal, 1 ounce of cheese, 1 10 ounce cup of coffee and 2 diet pops a day come back if you want that.

Phase three: The construction phase: This phase lasts for 4 weeks. In this phase you eat the same foods as phases 1 and 2 but you reintroduce whole wheat pasta and bread. Increase protein by adding peanut butter and even mayo to food, 2 whole eggs, 3 cups of that milk now, 2 cups of freshly squeezed juice, 4 slices of wholemeal bread, 1 cup of pasta and one desert serving per day.

Phase 4: The template phase. This phase is about lifestyle so it’s a lifestyle change. You eat the same foods as the last three stages but bring back white starches like potatoes and flour. You bring back what you want but you have to learn how much your body can take.

How much weight do you think I could use going on that diet then maintaining phase 4 as a general lifestyle? Here’s the link btw:

If the mother-to-be drinks pure coffee, energy drinks, and herbal teas (diet tea) on a regular basis 2-3 times a day, does that makes it unhealthy or dangerous for a few weeks old fetus/embryo?……what would the consequences be?

I’ve heard both are great if you want to trim just a bit of weight- green tea because of its herbal properties, and black coffee because of its effect on the human body and the metabolism.

But how true are these things that I’ve heard, and which one is actually better for me to use to trim down on some weight? Thanks!

I got something about it in the mail. I’m somewhat interested it. Anyone tried it? Anyone know if it’s for real (IE they will not scam you or charge hundreds to your credit card if purchased online)

My main goal is to stop drinking caffeine. I’m allowing myself a little hot chocolate, but my main goals are to stop drinking coffee and diet pop. So far it’s been going pretty good. I’m heavy on the herbal tea though. :)

breakfast: scrambled eggs with bacon or cereal with milk and a sip of coffee.

snack: 5 cheezballs, chips, cookies or biscuits & cheese

drink: horlicks (its a barley and malt nourishing drink) with whole milk.

dinner: whatever we’re having (either chinese takeout or pizza or veggie casserole). Sometimes we just feed the dog cooked white rice with tea (her fave)

dessert: when he have dessert, either ice cream or small bits of chocolate or cake.

She’s a large lab mix, if it makes a difference.
but he doesn’t feed it a lot of snacks and dessert. and my dog hates kibble!
everyone says my dog is going to die at 7, but my male mix who is fed the same is alive at 14.

okay i don’t know what it is but its getting worse. it started about a month or two ago,
it started off with eczema, but now ive got spots on my face and the eczema is getting worse

okay i do realize it COULD be because of my stress – ive been under immense pressure due to exams (gcses) , but ive calmed down as they are over, it was really bad because ive never been under that much pressure in my live. but why am i still getting itching and spots and stuff?

but i was wondering -
could it be my diet? i have kind of started eating new things, but they re all healthy changes.

heres what i have on an average day:
breakfast – bio pot yogurt with chopped banana
lunch – sandwich (Philadelphia and lettuce)
dinner – whatever my mum makes (never been a problem)
i do have about 2 cups of herbal tea.

okay, now i want to know whether its my eating or my stress?
please help me!
xxx
