If you haven’t heard of it…before I get all these terrible mean comments, the fat smash diet is the diet from celebrity fit club. For phase I, you are expected to eat only fruits, vegetables, and drink water and some herbal tea…and you cannot have any caffeine, alcohol, white breads, etc. I’m TTC but I also wanted to lose some weight and I thought maybe this diet would be okay since its fruits and veggies…and I haven’t really started it, because I have continued to eat chicken (my protein)…Would this be a smart idea? Has anyone done this and had a successful time TTC?

Overall am starting to eat a healthy diet with lots of fiber, fruits and veggies, some fish, portioned meats, no sodas, vitamin supps, lots of green tea and water, low salts, sugars, and trans fat. I know I can have rare cheat meals but if i stay within the limits say within 20 g of saturated fat and a 2000 calorie diet; is it ok to eat 2 slices of pizza or chinese for dinner but eat good throughout the day and excercise as well.

I’ve begun trying to lose weight again but I need to know, is my diet changes a good one?

Breakfast :
100% Cranberry Juice or Herbal Tea
Whole Grain Cereal -OR- Toast (All Grain)

Lunch :
Water/Herbal Tea
Sandwich with Turkey/Cheese/Pepperoni
OR Sub (Half) with mostly Lettuce/Chicken and Light Oil

Dinner :
Once a week Chinese food
Meat/Vegetables

Dessert : Celery with peanut butter and raisins OR One oatmeal cookie Snacks in between are either a handful of raisins or celery/carrots

If I have to go out or I’m on the road, I’ll have some fast food but I try to drink water with it or just get a salad. I also exercise ever day (crunches and sit ups as well as aerobic exercises and dance) for about an hour or 30 minutes. and once in a GREAT while, I’ll have a soda. I mostly drink if not water or Herb Tea, Arizona and Sobe just to give some flavour. This is coming from a diet of ALL RAMEN, ALL SODA, MOSTLY FAST FOOD! I never had fruits or vegetables before!! Good diet change?

My Mom suffers from RLS and is up during the night with it. Does anyone know of any good herbal teas that help calm the legs? Because of her diet (HCG) she can not eat bananas so we’re trying the herbal (caffeine free) route.

Foods to Eat
Use organic fruits and vegetables as they have less pollutants and chemicals. Organic food also has a higher nutritional content than non-organic commercialized produce.
Basically your diet should mostly consist of juiced, raw, frozen, or lightly steamed fruits and veggies. Corn and avocados should be avoided, white potatoes can be eaten only in moderation. Eating a variation each day will ensure you are getting enough vitamins and keep this diet as interesting as possible.
Foods to Avoid
Here is a brief list of foods to avoid while on this plan. To get the full detoxing effects, stick to the diet and be sure that you don’t cheat!
Dairy and animal products
Bread, pasta, grains, cereal
Chocolate
Nuts
Sauces
Pickled vegetables or canned fruit
Alcohol and cigarettes
Coffee and tea (except green and herbal)
Meal Plans
- Breakfast
Variations of fruit or fruit puree are great for breakfast. They are nutritious, filling and the natural sugars will give you energy to get through the morning.
To make a fruit puree, cut up your fruit and place in a pot on the stove with a small amount of water. Cover and leave it on a low heat until the fruit is soft. Now just throw it in the blender and add a squeeze of fresh lemon to taste. I also like to add a little cinnamon.
My favorite blends contain apples, plums, nectarines, pears and berries, but really anything goes. You can also mix it up a bit by using your blender to achieve different consistencies.
- Lunch & Dinner
For your main two meals its important to keep calories low but nutrition high. A vegetable puree soup is the answer. This will give you energy to get through the day and all the nutrients you need.
Cut up your vegetables, add approximately one cup of vegetable stock, and cover on a low heat until the vegetables are soft. Now throw it in the blender and spice it up with a raw clove of garlic or jalapeƱo pepper (only a little as it’s very spicy!). I also like to add cilantro and a little olive oil.
I like to experiment with different vegetables for this soup. Great ideas are spinach and broccoli, collard greens, zucchini, onion, carrots and sweet potatoes. Beans also make a great addition. I like to use chickpeas but be sure they are organic.
- Desserts & Snacks
This diet can sometimes leave you feeling hungry (it wouldn’t be a diet if it didn’t!), so its important to have some filling snacks around for when you need a boost.
Fruit smoothies are a great options for dessert or a snack between meals. You need to buy packs of frozen organic fruits from your supermarket. These lock all the goodness into the fruit and are very convenient. I actually find that frozen bananas taste much better in a smoothie than fresh ones so I peel ripe bananas and put them in a ziplock bag in the freezer.
Just add ice and a little water, then blend away! I like blends of blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and banana. Its really up to you to find a few combinations that you love. Be creative!
- Drinks
Freshly squeezed juices are very detoxing and a great way to get some condensed nutrition into your body. Fresh juice is also packed full of enzymes which are fundamental in maintaining good health and preventing disease.
Some ideas for recipes – try playing around with these super-healthy ingredients. Cucumbers, apples, carrot, ginger, garlic, beet and broccoli.
Don’t forget to drink Green Tea. This is so effective as a diet aid because it increases your metabolism and reduces your appetite. It has also been used for more than 4000 years in Chinese medicine, to cure ailments ranging from headaches to depression.

oh and right now im 5 ft 7 and 120lbs and i want to get down 5-10lbs

Just wondering. I’m less than 2 months pregnant but I’m not planning on quitting my "habits". I always drink 1-2, or sometimes 3 monster energy drinks a day, as well as diet herbal tea every now and then. I am just wondering if that can have some sort of effect….

I eat up to 5 or 6 times a day… usually three medium meals, such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with two to three small snacks in between:

Breakfast:

- Whole Grain Cereal (I looooooove Kashi Go Lean Crunch) with some almond milk and ground flax seeds and some fresh fruit like bananas…

or

- Salmon cakes with an egg white omelet topped with sauteed tomatoes and fresh avocado, with fresh spinach drizzled with lemon juice and a piece of whole grain toast with olive oil…. plus a berry smoothie (with green tea, fresh orange, goji berries, acai, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries… and sometimes blackberries)

or

- Oatmeal with Almond milk, almonds or walnuts, dried or fresh fruit (such as cranberries, raisins or diced apple – tastes like apple pie) with cinnamon and flax seed (for a healthy omega-3 fat)

or

- Whole grain pancakes with either blueberries or banana, walnut in them, or plain… topped with either honey, syrup (you have to look for natural maple syrup though… not corn syrup processed stuff) or fresh whipped cream sweetened with Equal (but Stevia’s best) and fresh strawberries or strawberry or blueberry sauce… or bananas foster… Plus… you can make healthy chocolate chip pancakes using "carob" in place of chocolate chips (just learned that today and wanna try it)….

Snacks (which I eat 2 to 3 times a day between my Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner):

- Green Tea (I drink at least 3 to 4 cups every day – though I had to work my way up to it cause it could be intense at first as it’s a natural diuretic – makes you pee)

- Handful of Nuts with some Dried Fruit (tart cherries, "unsweetened" are very good for you)

or

- Yogurt Parfait (with either fresh or lightly sweetened berries or peaches with some granola/muesli – which I make myself – and ground flaxseed – for a healthy fat)

or

- Spirulina, Chlorella Smoothie (with both blue-green algaes, mango, apple, banana, pineapple, and kiwi all mixed in a blender… with fiber from apple skins and all)

or

- Chocolate-Chocolate-Chip Smoothie (with cacao powder – which is raw chocolate in its unprocessed state… basically unprocessed cocoa bean – some cocao nibs – which take on the consistency of chocolate chips in this smoothie – some almond milk, 1/2 a banana and some ground flax… all blended in a blender for a DELICIOUS creamy treat *lol*)

or

- Pumpkin Smoothie (with unsweetened canned pumpkin and some almond milk, sweetener, and pumpkin pie spice or just allspice, ground cloves, nut meg, cinnamon, etc.)

or

- Peanut Butter Smoothie (with all-natural, unsweetend Peanut Butter – I like "Smuckers" brand – some almond milk, sweetener and some fiber with "Psyllium husks" – I get my fiber from "DrNatura")

or

- A Wheatgrass shot (I have my own "Wheatgrass juicer" since you can’t just use an ordinary juicer because the speed will destroy the natural enzymes in the wheatgrass)

or

- A "Green Smoothie" (which is nothing more than a smoothie that contains both fruits and vegetables together)

or

- Fresh Juice from my juicer (my favorite is carrot, apple, ginger… I love it!)

or

- Some whole grain pastries and baked goods (Wholefoods sells lots of whole grain stuff or I make them myself… I love healthy biscotti)

Lunch:

- A falafel (with tzatziki sauce)

or

- A wrap (with boneless chicken, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing)

or

- Lentil Chili

or

- Sandwiches… like a turkey and swiss sandwich on whole grain bread with lettuce, tomato, and sprouts… with a little mayo… and some soup (which I make myself and freeze)… or I’ll have a tuna sandwich with some chips or lemon soup (which is just some chicken soup with lemon juice in it – my favorite) or I make a Reuben sandwich (with pastrami and saurkraut with Russian dressing) or a chicken B.L.T or regular B.L.T sandwich….

or

- I’ll just have some Ramen noodles with Eggs (like an Egg Drop style soup) with some fresh Spinach cooked in….

or

- A whole grain pizza (I buy my own whole wheat flour and yeast to make my own crust – I also would like to make my own mozzarela but haven’t done it yet… you can add artichoke hearts, proscuitto, sundried tomatoes, parmesan, whatever toppings you like)

Dinner:

- A salad with grilled or breaded chicken (with spinach, carrot shreds, tomato, cucumber, avocado, cheddar cheese, turkey bacon, hard-boiled egg, whole grain croutons, and either ranch or honey mustard dressing)… or I’ll have a buffalo wing salad (with boneless, grilled chicken tossed in hot sauce and served over a bed of romaine with celery and carrot shredds and blue cheese dressing)… or a shrimp or scallop salad (with fried, breaded shrimps or scallops, or both, served over a bed of mixed greens with a little bit of fresh lemon juice and olive oil and a side of tartar sauce with capers and a slice of whole grain baguette)… If I’m really eating a lot I’ll also have a baked potatoe with a side of chili (with turkey meat or ground beef that has the fat rendered from it – just by boiling in salt water and draining)

or

- Whole grain pasta with a garden, chunky-style pasta sauce (which I make myself) and some whole grain Italian bread… with a small side salad of fresh spinach and a little olive oil and vinegar…

or

- Chinese Stirfry and Brown Rice

or

- Cod fish Salad (which is nothing more than some salted cod fish with yucca, steamed carrots, avocado, tomatoes, fresh spinach or romain lettuce, hard boiled eggs, and onion either sauteed in vinegar or raw with oil and vinegar and/or lemon juice to top) or a Salad Nicoise with some seared tuna…

or

- Anything else I’d like to cook….

Dessert:

- Chocolate Bread Pudding (using cacao powder, flaxseed, whole grain bread, almond milk and eggs with sweetener) topped with fresh whipped cream sweetened with Equal and some fresh strawberries…

or

- Jello Parfaits with either Whipped Cream or Yogurt with fresh fruit

And… on the weekends or whenever… I’ll cheat with just a day or two of junk food or whatever the heck I want to eat… Usually if it’s Chinese takeout I’ll just order it with some brown rice….

(I cut and pasted this from one of my older posts… I used to eat like this but gained weight when I stopped eating, only ate one meal a day and it was mostly takeout)

I know… *lol*… I said if you wanna read it…

1. Can I make a large batch for the day and leave it in fridge? some reports say to make it as you go? that seems inconvient.
2. are the laxatives "necessary"? what are the side effects of not using them?
3. Is there a big difference in using tap water or unfiltered water?
4. are all Herbal Teas ok as long as they are decaf?
5. is it true this diet can kill you?

Tips and hints are also appreciated. :) thanks!

Hi everyone!

My mom is 49 years old and she’s been taking all these types of teas for about a year now. My mom has a lot of digstive problems, and she has gone to many herbalist who give her teas for this. Many of them have given her these "slimming, diet teas" that contain laxative ingredients. My mom has no intention of losing weight, but she wants to drink the stuff so she can actually go to the bathroom. She can go on for 3-4 days without using the bathroom, which yes, I am aware- it’s bad!

We have tried foods, other medications (my mom also suffers from a kidney complication) so she can’t take many of them, especially over the counter things. I don’t know what to do, and it srot of scares me that she comes home with a different tea every month. I mean, these things are supposed to "slim" you down and get you on a diet, but I fear my mom will get sick from trying all these teas that may affect her health. Although most of the teas say "natural", "organic" "herbal" I still worry. Can anyone tell me if there’s any side effects to these teas?

Here’s some she’s recently been taking: (she sometimes mixes them after being constipated for about 3 days):

Slic Chic, you obviously did not read the question, why bother reading it if you’re not giving me an informative answer. Same goes for the third answer =/
